Mary Baker Eddy
The founder of the Christian Science movement, Eddy (1821-1910) is the "only American woman to found a lasting American-based religion," according to the National Women's Hall of Fame. In 1908, two years before she dies at age 89, Eddy also launched The Christian Science Monitor.
