The Godfather Film Premiere Anniversary
On March 15, 1972, the picture that many consider the greatest American film ever made premiered, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel by Mario Puzo. The film depicted the fortunes of the Corleone crime family and won three Oscars, for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor (Marlon Brando).
