Paul Simon, the Man with the Bow Tie
Moynihan may have worn them, but no politician is better known for rocking bow ties than Paul Simon, the Illinois congressman and senator. Simon, who died in 1993, reportedly adopted the ties after a newspaper reported on his performance in a debate by saying, "the man with the bow tie did well."
