Hard economic times seem to drive people to movie theaters (
Netflix or no Netflix). Movies are one of the least expensive entertainment options away from home, it turns out. In 2011, summer box office sales reached a new record of $4.4 billion and were up approximately 1 percent over 2010, according to the National Association of Theater Owners. And the summer of 2011 summer marked the fifth consecutive season in which revenue sales exceeded $4 billion.
