SORRY, CHARLIE, LESS ISN'T MORE
StarKist Tuna
The StarKist tuna can once weighed in at 7 ounces, but over the years Dworsky has watched it drop steadily, hovering around 6 ounces for many years in the early 2000s, then shrinking again in 2008 to 5 ounces. When asked to comment, StarKist told Dworsky that tuna prices have reached an “all-time high” and like many downsizers who have been called out on the practice, they played the “green” card. Taking out two teaspoons of tuna from each can, they said, would save two million gallons of water a year. They have a point: Think of how much water could be saved if the cans were empty?
