SHORT SHEETING
Scott Toilet Paper
Dworsky first documented Scott’s disappearing toilet paper sheet back in 2006. Though the packaging boasted “now improved,” it didn’t mention that the sheet length had gone from 4.0 inches to 3.7 inches. Then, last fall, the width shriveled from 4.5 inches to 4.1 inches. When Dworsky inquired about it, a company spokesman said it was a move to make Scott “comparable with other brands” and “a slight improvement to make it thicker.” Yet the new “thicker” package weighed five ounces less than the old. In total, the roll is 25 percent smaller today than the 2006 version.
