A new school year is gearing up and that means American families are stocking up on supplies and new fall outfits.
Back-to-school is the second-biggest retail season in the U.S., second only to Christmas, according to the National Retail Federation. This year, Americans are expected to spend $75.8 billion on clothing, supplies and other items for the school year. That makes up about 9 percent of the $828 billion spent on all retail sales during the back-to-school shopping months.
