Donald Trump on Friday morning all but danced on the grave of the Republican Party splinter group commonly known as the #NeverTrump movement.
A last-ditch effort by the group to block his nomination as the party’s presidential candidate collapsed late Thursday night. “#NeverTrump is never more,” he gloated in a tweet. “They were crushed last night in Cleveland at Rules Committee by a vote of 87-12. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump was referring to an effort to force a vote at next week’s convention that would have freed delegates bound to vote for him to choose another candidate, possibly putting his nomination in jeopardy.
