Generic drugs
While the skyrocketing prices of specialty prescription drugs have gotten a lot of attention, the cost of generic drugs has quietly been falling. Between 2010 and 2015, the prices of generic drugs provided under Medicare Part D dropped by nearly 60 percent, according to a recent GAO report. Some believe that President-elect Trump will lower the bar on generic drug approvals from the FDA, which could put more generic drugs on the market and lower prices further.
