Thanks to pre-Obamacare state healthcare reform, the Bay State has the lowest percentage of residents without health insurance (3.5 percent) in the country. The state also ranks first in the per capita number of primary care physicians, with 206.7 doctors per 100,000 residents, compared to a national rate of 127.4.
