Regarded by many as ahead of its time, the Dreamcast was one of the first consoles to have online capabilities (powered by a dial-up modem), launched a boatload of successful franchises and then ultimately crumbled under the release of the DVD format (for which it was not compatible) as well as Sega's financial troubles.
