The Big Dog that Doesn't Slobber
The best thing about BigDog is you don't have t walk it. BigDog is a dynamically stable quadruped robot created in 2005 by Boston Dynamics with Foster-Miller, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Harvard University Concord Field Station. Three feet long and 2.5 feet tall, and weighing in at 240 pounds (about the size of a small mule) you don't want this creature jumping on the furniture--or on you, for that matter. It can, however, pass the most rigorous cardio stress test: it's capable of traversing difficult terrain, running at 4 miles per hour, carrying 340 pounds, and climbing a 35 degree incline.
