The Microchip
During WWII, the DOD provided funding to firms like Fairchild Semiconductor and Texas Instruments to
build a tiny device that could help make missile targeting more precise. The resulting product eventually became known as the microchip – now used in every iPhone, computer and almost any electronic device.
