For lessons, expect to spend around $100-$150 a month. Maya Lawrence, a 32-year-old Olympic fencer from Teaneck, N.J., typically practices four hours a day, six days a week and travels to big competitions four or five times a year, which adds up to about $20,000 a year, including equipment, according to Forbes.
