Irish women have as the lowest lifetime risk of maternal death out of all 43 developed countries (1 in 17,800 women), women are expected to attend 19 years of formal schooling and maternity leave is great – 26 weeks at about 80 percent pay. The downsides? Only 19 percent of seats are held by women in national government, and the percent of women using contraception was on the low end at 61 percent.
