After Fisher-Price recalled 1.5 million plastic toys made in China in 2007, parents have become increasingly concerned about what their children are playing with (and inevitably chewing). This has led to a windfall of wooden toys. Smiling Tree Toys on Etsy sells their signature Wooden Balancing Toy for $38; Little Alouette sells wooden teethers in American Eagle’s kids stores for $12 a pop. And the ergonomically designed Svan high chair (a favorite of Isla Fisher, Naomi Watts and Dean and Tori Spelling) provides a wooden alternative to traditional plastic chairs for $260.
