This rainy Northwest City is a haven for jobs for middle-aged workers, with a jaw-dropping 3.3 unemployment rate for 45-54-year-olds and an impressive 4.1 percent for 55-64-year-olds. The city proper is not only home to big names in the retail and food sectors, including Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, Nordstrom, and Starbucks, but the Puget Sound houses tech giant, Microsoft, which employs more than 40,000 workers in the area, 40 percent of them over the age of 40. The larger metropolitan area also added 37,700 jobs between October 2010 and October 2011. How’s that for clear skies?
