1973-75 Recession
A quadrupling of oil prices by OPEC, combined with spending related to the Vietnam War, led to stagflation, and the 1973-74 stock market crash. Skirt lengths fell again, but the onset of feminism gave rise to big shoulder pads and a more masculine look that took hold during the 80s.
